It's official! Electronic Arts announced plans to release "The Sims 2" early 2004. Industry insiders will get their first look at the game mid-May at the Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles.

I was beginning to feel like this day would never come, and we would have expansion pack after expansion pack for the next 10 years. Now I can hardly wait for next year to roll around. After reading the press release, a few things caught my eye. Many new, promised features are included in the console versions.

Key Items Announced in "The Sims 2"

  • Sims will have DNA passed down from generation to generation.
  • No more 2D, "The Sims 2" will have a 3D graphical view.
  • Sims will now age from toddlers to adults.
  • Choices made as children, will count in adulthood!
  • Special relationships for friends, family, and crushes.
  • A Sims activity level will affect their appearance. Couch potatoes will have a belly!
  • Create-A-Sim feature will allow you to change facial features.
